Marvin Walker, O.D.
Marvin E. Walker, O.D. grew up in Durham, NC and obtained a Bachelor of Science in physiologic optics at the University of Alabama, Birmingham in 1981. He continued at UAB, School of Optometry and received his Doctor of Optometry in 1983 graduating with honors.
He began practice of optometry in Burnsville, NC and then moved his practice to Spruce Pine in 1985.
Dr. Marvin Walker is active in the community of Spruce Pine as a member of Rotary International and Spruce Pine United Methodist Church. He has served on the Spruce Pine Community Hospital board as well as a host of other community organizations such as Rotary. He is certainly a familiar face to anyone who has been around Mitchell County for long.
Diane Walker, O.D.
Diane W. Walker, O.D. grew up in Tuscalossa, AL and attended the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology. She also obtained a Doctor of Optometry from University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry in 1986, graduating with honors.
She began optometric service in Yancey, Mitchell, and Avery counties with her husband Dr. Marvin Walker in 1986. She is a member of BSK Optometric Honor Society and the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Diane Walker is also an active member of Spruce Pine United Methodist Church and serves in many aspects there. She serves on the Toe River Arts Council Executive Board and the Toe River Project Access Board.
